Chakras {9} ~ Other Chakras

Most of us are familiar with the seven Chakras or energy centers of the body. Although these Chakras are the main energy centers of the body, we actually have over 70,000 other smaller energy centers or scattered throughout the body like stars.

While the root, sacral, solar plexus, heart, throat, third eye and crown chakras are the most powerful, there are eight other notable chakras that are worth understanding. These include~

God’s Head Chakra

The God’s Head Chakra is the 12th Chakra and is located roughly 12 inches above the Crown Chakra. The God’s Head Chakra is believed to be very similar to the idea of a halo. When activated, the God’s Head Chakra helps to stimulate higher consciousness and the feelings of God energy flowing from within. When out of balance, this energy center can manifest as feeling powerless or out of sync with your life.

Soul Star Chakra

The Soul Star Chakra is located just above the crown chakra and governs the energy of past knowledge and karmic memory. When the Soul Star Chakra is activated it is possible to have insights on past lives and different dimensions. Astral travel can also occur when this Chakra is activated, as well as a desire to study the stars and planets. When this Chakra is out of balance it can be difficult to manifest things and feel connected to the greater Universe.

Pineal Chakra

The Pineal chakra is located directly behind the eyes in the center of the brain. The Pineal Gland has long been considered sacred and is often called the seat of consciousness. The Pineal Chakra activates the energy of the Pineal gland, which helps to stimulate spiritual awareness and feelings of divinity. When in balance, this Chakra can help you to access hidden realms, communicate with Spirits and feel more in touch with your inner self. It is also often activated on the lightworker journey. When out of balance, this Chakra can manifest as an inability to think for oneself, constant feelings of fear about the state of the world and being closed off to intuitive messages.

Cerebellum Chakra

The Cerebellum Chakra is located at the back of the neck just where your neck and head meet. This Chakra is known as the “well of dreams” and is said to help you access hidden realms, creative ideas and your soul contract. When this energy center is strong, it manifests as feeling in touch and inspired by your dreams and even prophetic dreaming. It can also help you to see things for what they are, without allowing judgements of the mind to interfere. When out of balance, this energy center can manifest as clouded judgement, always seeing the negative side of things and an inability to tap into your intuitive voice.

Thymus Chakra

The Thymus Chakra is also called the higher heart chakra and is located between the throat and the heart area. When in balance, this Chakra helps you to access love of the Divine and of the self. It also helps you to see the gratitude and beauty in everyday things. When out of balance, this Chakra can manifest as narrow-mindedness or an inability to accept differing points of view. The Thymus Chakra also helps you to connect your heart energies to your words so you can communicate more empathically and compassionately.

Sacred Heart Chakra

The Sacred Heart Chakra is located just below the heart chakra and slightly to the left. The Sacred Heart Chakra works with the energy of the heart center and helps to expand our consciousness and feelings of unconditional love. When in balance, the Sacred Heart Chakra helps you to feel confident and secure with your direction in life. It also helps to expand your intuitive feelings and clarity when it comes to messages from unseen worlds. When this Chakra is out of balance it can manifest as confusion, lack of empathy and inability to see both sides of the story.

Core Star Chakra

The Core Star Chakra is located above the Sacral or second Chakra, right near the diaphragm. The Core Star Chakra represents the “study” of the soul and the pursuit of esoteric knowledge. When in balance, this Chakra helps us to understand our role in this world and our soul purpose. When out of balance however, it can cause feelings of disconnect. To balance this Chakra, studying spiritual wisdom and metaphysics can help, as can meditation exercises that focus on breathing.

Earth Star Chakra

The Earth Star Chakra is located 11 inches beneath your feet and is the energy center that helps connect you to Mother Earth. When this Chakra is in balance it allows you to feel connected to this planet and connected to your Earthly journey. When out of balance, this Chakra can manifest feelings of wanting to return “home” and being out of touch with the planet, cycles of nature and the environment. Grounding exercises and spending time in nature are a great way to help align and balance the Earth Star energy center.

Chakras {8} ~ Sahasrara, Crown

The Sahasrara, or crown chakra, the highest chakra, sits at the crown of the head and represents our ability to be fully connected spiritually. When you fully open your crown chakra—something very few people ever do!—you’re able to access a higher consciousness.

Location: The very top of the head
What it controls: Inner and outer beauty, spiritual connection
Lesson: “I am a vessel for love and light.”
Color: Violet/White
Element: Divine Consciousness
Stone: Clear quartz
Yoga pose: Headstand
When it develops: 43-49 years old

Chakras {7} ~ Ajna, Third Eye

As we move up the body, we’re getting closer to communion with the divine. The Anja, or third-eye chakra, controls our ability to see the big picture and connect to intuition. Think of it as the eye of the soul: It registers information beyond the surface level. Visions and intuitive hits are not uncommon for someone with an open third-eye chakra.

Location: Forehead between the eyes (also called the Brow Chakra)
What it controls: Intuition, imagination, and wisdom
Mantra: “I am open to exploring what cannot be seen.”
Color: Dark Blue/Purple
Element: Light
Stone: Amethyst
Yoga pose: Child’s Pose
When it develops: 36-42 years old

Chakras {6} ~ Vishuddha, Throat

The Vishuddha, or throat chakra, gives voice to the heart chakra and controls our ability to communicate our personal power. When it’s functioning at full capacity, it allows us to express ourselves truly and clearly. Someone with a blocked throat chakra will feel like they have trouble finding the words to say how they truly feel.

Location: Throat
What it controls: Communication, self-expression, and truth
Mantra: “I speak my truth, always.”
Color: Light Blue/Turquoise
Element: Sound/Music
Stone: Aquamarine
Yoga pose: Fish Pose
When it develops: 29-35 years old

Chakras {5} ~ Anahata, Heart

The Anahata, or heart chakra, is the bridge between the lower chakras (associated with materiality) and the upper chakras (associated with spirituality). As the name suggests, this chakra can influence our ability to give and receive love—from others and ourselves. Someone with a blocked heart chakra will have difficulty fully opening up to the people in their life. If someone’s heart is open, they can experience deep compassion and empathy.

Location: Center of chest, just above the heart
What it controls: Love, joy, and inner peace
Mantra: “When I love myself, loving others comes easily.”
Color: Green
Element: Air
Stone: Rose Quartz
Yoga pose: Camel Pose
When it develops: 21-28 years old

Chakras {4} ~ Manipura, Solar Plexus

The third chakra, the solar plexus chakra, speaks to your ability to be confident and in control of your life. Think back to the last time you had butterflies or felt a pit in the stomach: That’s the Manipura chakra at work. If your solar plexus chakra is blocked, you might feel overwhelming amounts of shame and self-doubt. Those with open sacral chakras are free to express their true selves.

Location: Upper abdomen in the stomach area
What it controls: Self-worth, self-confidence, and self-esteem
Mantra: “Self-love starts when I accept all parts of myself.”
Color: Yellow
Element: Fire
Stone: Amber
Yoga pose: Boat Pose
When it develops: 15-21 years old

Chakras {3} ~ Swadhisthana, Sacral

The Swadhisthana, or sacral chakra, helps inform how we relate to our emotions and the emotions of others. It also governs creativity and sexual energy. Those with a blocked sacral chakra could feel a lack of control in their lives.

Location: Lower abdomen, about 2 inches below the navel
What it controls: Your sense of abundance, well-being, pleasure, and sexuality
Mantra: “I always honor others but not before myself.”
Color: Orange
Element: Water
Stone: Tiger’s Eye
Yoga pose: Bound Angle Pose
When it develops: 8-14 years old

Chakras {2} ~ Muladhara, Root Chakra

The Muladhara, or root chakra, represents our foundation. On the human body, it sits at the base of the spine and gives us the feeling of being grounded. When the root chakra is open, we feel confident in our ability to withstand challenges and stand on our own two feet. When it’s blocked, we feel threatened, as if we’re standing on unstable ground.

Location: Base of spine, in tailbone area
What it controls: Survival issues such as financial independence, money, and food
Mantra: “I can’t grow from an unsteady foundation.”
Color: Red
Element: Earth
Stone: Hematite
Yoga pose: Warrior I
When it develops: 1-7 years old

Chakras {1} ~ What Are They?

The chakra system holds your body’s energy (or prana) and your actions can help keep it in balance.

The Sanskrit word chakra translates to a wheel or disk. In yoga, meditation, and Ayurveda, this term refers to wheels of energy throughout the body. There are seven main chakras that align along the spine, starting from the base of the spine to the crown of the head. The spheres run along the spine, but extend through and past the front, back, and both sides of your body. Chakras are a spinning vortex of energy that is not seen by the human eye but can be seen, felt, and sensed with intuition. This invisible healing energy, called prana, is a vital life force, which keeps us vibrant, healthy, and alive.

Chakras store the energy of thoughts, feelings, memories, experiences, and actions. They influence and direct our present and future mindset, behaviour, emotional health, and actions. The life force in each chakra can be processed, transmuted and released so that we consciously manifest what we want to call in, rather than experience more of the same. Chakra healing is the intentional practice of connecting with our stored energy, so we may understand how our past is influencing the present and the future. Prana informs us, and influences our actions and behaviors, determining our health, career opportunities, relationships, and more. The subtle body depicts how our inner reality creates our outer reality.
