Viveka is a Sanskrit term that can be translated as “right understanding,” “discrimination” or “discrimination knowledge.” It is one of the four attributes of a spiritual disciple. It is the ability to differentiate between the real and unreal, eternal and temporary, Self and non-Self, pleasure and bliss. It is a spiritual practice of realizing the Truth and the Soul.

Psychology Phenomena {39} ~ Pluralistic Ignorance

In social psychology, pluralistic ignorance is a situation in which a majority of group members privately reject a norm, but go along with it because they assume, incorrectly, that most others accept it. This is also described as “no one believes, but everyone thinks that everyone believes”. Pluralistic ignorance is a bias about a social group, held by the members of that social group.

Pluralistic ignorance may help to explain the bystander effect. If no-one acts, onlookers may believe others consider taking action to be improper, and may therefore themselves refrain from acting.

Experience is defined as the knowledge or understanding that is obtained through practical involvement in, or exposure to, an activity or event. This is generally considered to be different to the kind of theoretical knowledge that comes from reading books or gaining factual knowledge.

In yoga, the term is primarily used to describe the act and time during which yoga is actively practiced and engaged with. It can describe the immediate perception of the yoga practice as it arises. Alternatively, it may describe the level of mastery and understanding a yogi has reached through their practice over time. This may be a level of physical aptitude in the yoga asanas, or a level of understanding and knowledge into what yoga is and represents.

Yoga and religious traditions, such as Buddhism, emphasize the importance of direct experience in order to progress on one’s spiritual path.

Dwelling where the tears dry in blood stains

Echoed nightmares ghost my tortured young innocent shell

In streets not paved in gold

But misery mountains that I scale everyday

Wearily sauntering around their slippy slopes

For a cigarette butt or piece of fruit to trigger some chemicals on the way

To keep afloat for a few hours

As I die a little bit more everyday

Sitting on my concrete throne chained to the only thing I know, my backpack

An abyss of loneliness
My friend, my foe

As I die a little bit more everyday

Without the courage to end it

Or the will to go on

The vagabond wanders aimlessly

Under the artificial lights

Cold waves gushing and crashing into the night shiver

Diurnal souls in the comfort of cosy beds dreaming in the astral planes

But like nocturnal birds I’m awake

Benumbed and desolate and destaught

Prying to catch a sight of fire in some form

In the meantime

Trying to guard the cold with my bare whipped icey skin

My eyes glaze over

Ice burns my soul

Another countless night passes

Out here on this endless road

Food or smoke? Limited choices

To get through another sleepless frozen dusk and dawn

Am I to survive this night with men with knive

As you disguise yourself, on benches,
in corners, alleys and streets

Hidden in woods and underpasses of freeways

Tents, cars of strangers and filthy squat abodes with rats as the first pitter patter of morning echos and mold as a bacterial presence

You disappear, to find comfort in the only place left to heal.

The Human Family Crash Course Series {7} ~ Magic {8} ~ Practicing Magic

Welcome fellow souls to « The Human Family Crash Course Series, » a new project collaborated together by empress2inspire.blog and dios-raw.com. Together we will be working on a different topic for each crash course; our seventh topic is focused on «Magic». Each topic will have ten posts with posts on Mondays and Thursdays. We hope you enjoy our series and we look forward to knowing how our posts have inspired you!

I am guessing if you are reading this post, you either practice magic or you want to practice magic or you are just simply curious. Well this post is for all of you. We will be talking about some tips on how to start practising magic. Take everything that I write here with a grain of salt and cross reference everything I am writing because I am definitely not an expert or a professional in practising magic. So without further ado, here are some principles for practising magic :

Read. Read everything. I know this is overwhelming because there is so much information which is also very exciting. Pick one topic, baby steps but read everything. 70% of the craft is getting the knowledge and taking notes and the other 30% is actually doing. Without knowledge you cannot go very far. Without understanding the concepts, there isn’t going to be any magic, there are going to be a lot of holes in what you do.

The Spiritual Lifestyle is not for Everybody. Dabbling in it isn’t awful. Some may disagree, people who are interested or atleast open to learning and understanding things that once or still scare them, are doing something very brave. Some spiritual practices that you are doing now may not make sense down the time because you will grow in your consciousness if you do things right. Keep up with practices which you believe me and have faith in. Don’t put huge expectations on what you should and shouldn’t be doing.

Ask yourself what you want out of this. What are you doing it for? Are you doing it for the pursuit of knowledge or are you doing it because it is calling out to you. Are you doing it to get closer to your family or your ancestors or are you trying to figure out how the universe works. Your “why” may change as your craft moves on but this is important from the present moment point of view.
Learn to spot the efficient spells from the faulty ones. How do you know what works and what doesn’t. There is a lot of information out there so which is authentic? So here’s the deal, what works works, what does not work, doesn’t. You will figure out your own set of spells that work for you during the course of your practising. What works for you may necessarily work for someone else. You are going to stumble, you are going to make mistakes but keep at it. At the end of a bad day, at least you will know what doesnt work.
Intention is important but it is not everything. Your beliefs will change as you grow in your practice. You may start with a certain set of rules but as you grow your beliefs about a particular spell or incantation will change and the world will become bigger but you are going to have a deeper understanding of how things work at least with your own perspective. You can cast spells with nothing but intention, that is possible, that’s how prayer works, however that is the hard way of going about manifestation. That is a lot of energy coming from only you. Combine intention with tools and ingredients.
Do not be your only battery. Ask yourself whether after a spell or a ritual, are you completely exhausted? Do you feel physically, mentally or spiritually drained? If you do, it means that you are drawing energy mainly from yourself. Learn to use the energy of nature to power your spells. Humans are very good for directing energy, ascending things in specific directions. Start small and grow from there.

Everything matters but not everything is necessary. There are so many different herbs which are used for protection, however each herb has a different essence of protection. There is a reason why we use specific ingredients, however, if you don’t have a particular ingredient, you can use a substitute ingredient that is similar.

Hope these tips help. Get crafty. You already have everything around you to get started on practising magic. Master your fundamentals. Take care.

~Systems Thinking~

“You must begin by turning inwards. You begin by recognizing that all our collective problems are actually rooted right inside of you! How are you contributing to global warming? How are you contributing to corruption in politics? How are you contributing to terrorism? That’s where you start! And you better fucking believe that you’re contributing directly to these problems. That right there is whole the problem! See?

Trying to fix these problems by rallying people to some cause is actually part of the problem. Because it externalizes the problem so nobody bothers asking the really important question: How is my being in the world creating all the evil I see around me?

Here’s the paradox of systems thinking: we need more people to be socially conscious, but the only way to do that is get more people to turn inward. Systems thinking might seem like it’s asking you to orient outward (because the focus is on solving external problems like global warming or terrorism) but solving these problems first requires a radical turning inward. So you must turn inwards first, master your self and your understanding of systems, then you will turn outwards and transform the world in a responsible manner.

There can be no meaningful transformation of the world without a personal inner revolution. This is where most revolutionaries go wrong. If you just try to overthrow the government or start some kind of political action group, you will fail, because you lack the requisite inner development to lead such a group in a conscious and responsible manner. Your actions will also be misguided because you misunderstand the root problems. Your personal weaknesses and corruption will undermine you. If you start a movement without first expanding your own consciousness, you will deepen the problem because you will just spread ignorance.

An ignorant person cannot help spreading ignorance. This is a certainty. No ifs about it. Notice that this has been a huge trap across the centuries. When someone starts a movement without first taming their ego, the movement always backfires and leads to great evil. Closely study the development of religions, cults, Nazism, Marxism, anti-communism, existentialism, nihilism, post-modernism, Scientology, evangelical missionaries, the PUA community, Alex Jones, etc. All of these movements were created by people who haven’t mastered their own egos, and therefore they spread ignorance in the name of doing social good, actually creating the very same evil they are trying to stop.

The source of all evil is personal ignorance. Evil is not created with evil intentions. Evil is created with good intentions. The better you think your intentions are, the more evil you will create in the world, the more ignorance you will spread, because you will think you’re right, leaving no room for self-reflection. Evil is just a lack of self-reflection. That is all. So watch yourself!

Also, systems thinking is not just about manipulating systems. Many of the lower Spiral Dynamics stages like Red, Blue, and Orange can manipulate systems very successfully. A mob boss is very good at ruthlessly pushing through his egoic agenda. This is not systems thinking. This is shameless egotism. Systems thinking requires that you start to step outside your self-centered view of the world. You have to be conscious enough to step outside your own value system, and genuinely care about other beings besides your self and your tribe.

Stop using success, wealth, or fame as measures of systems thinking. Just because some businessman has made billions of dollars and has 10 luxury cars and a trophy wife, does NOT make him a systems thinker. Just the opposite in fact. It’s really easy to make money in a ruthless, unecological manner by exploiting a system. That is NOT systems thinking. That’s unchecked stage Red or stage Orange egotism.

If you feel that your perspective of the world is THE TRUTH, you’re not at stage Yellow.”
